Table Mountain Cable Car – Cape Town

Cape Town Tourism:
Gone are the days of the rickety metal framework which used to take
tourists from the base of Table Mountain to the top plateau. To day the
visitor is transported to the top of the mountain within 5 minutes in a
bright shiny rotating gondola, a product of the 21 century!

Along the journey the gondola makes one full rotation to give passengers a full 360 degree view of the surroundings.

It is advised to get there early as queuing can take as long as 2 hours.

The cable car service does not run in poor weather, or in high winds

Walks in and arround Table Mountain.

An interesting walk around Cape Town’s Table Mountain is called “The Pipe Track”.

Although this track does not go to the top of Table Mountain, one can obtain staggering views of the Atlantic Ocean, making it one of the most popular Table Mountain walks in Cape Town.
This flat footpath runs for about 4.5 km and takes about 1.5 hours. It runs along the “Twelve Apostles (names of the mountain peaks) and begins at Kloof Nek, just west of the turn off for Tafelberg Road. The views of Camps Bay are also fantastic.
