Soccer fans around the world are gearing up for the World Cup in South Africa 2010. Held in 10 different stadiums across the country, this will mark the first time that the FIFA World Cup has ever been hosted in an African country. The World Cup is the biggest sporting event in the world, and to soccer fans it is the most important event too. People are already booking flights, buying tickets and making hotel arrangements so that they don’t have to miss a minute of the action. South Africa will be hosting the month long event until one of the 32 teams is declared the champion. Since this is the first time that the tournament has ever been in Africa, there are sure to be a lot of surprises in store.
With the first game kicking off on 11th June 2010, there is already less than a year to apply for tickets and make your arrangements for South Africa 2010. Cities across South Africa are bustling with excitement as new stadiums are built for the event and existing stadiums are renovated and made ready for the scores of soccer fans that will be streaming into the country. The oldest and most established of the field’s is Loftus, in Tshwane/Pretoria. This stadium has also been host to the 2009 Confederate Cup. There are about 30 hotels in the area for fans that are hoping to stay near this venue.
New fields are being built in Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Nelspruit and Gauteng in honor of the World Cup being in South Africa 2010.

Cape Town Soccer Stadium, in the suburb of Greenpoint.
The three major airports in South Africa are in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban. Coincidentally, many of the matches are being held in stadiums that are in or around these general areas. Hotels, Guest Houses & Bed and Breakfast establishments are sure to book quickly though, so it may be easier to get accommodations closer to one of the stadiums that are further away from the major airports.
South Africa is a huge change from other countries that have hosted the World Cup in the recent history. Information about South Africa such as where to stay and how to get there can be found on the internet. You may want to browse www.stayinsa.co.za for recommendations for accommodation in South Africa and you will definitely need to register now for tickets. Whatever you do though, do it soon, there is less than a year! Even if you just go to tailgate, South Africa 2010 is guaranteed to be a great time!
